Senior PTI leader Ijaz Chaudhry visited the PAT Secretariat yesterday and called on Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur. He expressed his satisfaction on the acceptance of the petition by the SC to consider formation of a new JIT to hold a fresh probe into the tragedy. He said that PAT Chairman Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has done justice to the struggle for justice for the martyred workers and he deserves to be particularly lauded for it.
Ijaz Chaudhry said that raising a voice for the victims of Model Town tragedy is above politics of every kind. He said that the world and the people of Pakistan are looking at the doors of justice to open. He said that we stood by the PAT in its demand for justice right from day one and will continue to extend our support till the justice is delivered.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur thanked Ijaz Chaudhry for expressing his party’s support to the cause of justice in Model Town case. He said that extension of the government’s support to our demand for constitution of a new JIT is reassuring. He said that those responsible for Model Town tragedy can be punished only when the case is reinvestigated afresh. He said that the previous rulers tried to make police officials the scapegoats but our demand from the day one has been that the masterminds of the tragedy should be held to account.
Arif Chaudhry, Hafiz Ghulam Farid, Dr Tanvir Azam Sandhu, Ch. Afzal Gujjar, Asghar Sajid, Haji Farrukh and others were also present on the occasion.
