The Central Working Council of PAT has expressed its grave concern on the recurrent price hike, increase in the rates of petroleum products and electricity and gas. The meeting discussed prevailing political situations in the country including law and order and violation of human rights and took important decisions after thorough deliberations.

The meeting was presided over by PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the country has been held hostage with the IMF. He said that the Fund is taking all the decisions and the position of Parliament is that of rubber-stamp. He said that the accountability institutions have been weakened as well and the country is practically being ruled by mafias.

Raja Zahid Mahmood, Noorullah Siddiqui, Mian Rehan Maqbool, Qazi Shafique, Arif Chaudhry, Noor Ahmad Sahoo, Naeem-ud-Din Chaudhry Advocate and Dr Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry attended the meeting.

The PAT leaders said that the current system is wreaking havoc on Pakistan. They said that time has come to choose between the country and the anti-people system. They said that the current electoral system is the basis of all evils. They said that unless the political system is representative of the aspirations of the masses, the country will continue to face one crisis after the other.
