Martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) Is One of the Most Tragic Events in Islamic History: Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri

Chairman of the Supreme Council of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Professor Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, has said that the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) is one of the most heart-wrenching tragedies in the history of Islam, and even after 1,400 years, the hearts and souls of the faithful remain deeply wounded. Every member of the Ummah still feels the pain of the heart-rending events connected to this tragedy, and the wounds remain fresh to this day.

He stated that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) once gathered his companions and said, “I remind you of Allah regarding my Ahl-e-Bayt (the People of My House),” urging the Ummah to maintain a strong bond with the blessed family so that their connection with the true faith remains firm. The Prophet ﷺ also said, “If you hold on to the Qur’an and my Ahl-e-Bayt, you will remain on the straight path.”

Yazid and his wretched followers, by attacking the Holy Family, were in fact attempting to lead the Ummah away from the Straight Path and destroy the foundations of Islam. However, Allah Almighty foiled their evil plot, and the event of Karbala became a benchmark for truth and righteousness against falsehood and tyranny.

Dr. Qadri further said that whenever Hazrat Ali (RA) would take Imam Hasan and Imam Hussain out to play, the Prophet ﷺ would anxiously say, “Bring my sons back before the sun gets too hot.” The Prophet, who wouldn’t even allow the sun’s heat to touch the bodies of his grandsons, saw those same grandsons mercilessly martyred under the blazing desert sun by the cruel and godless army of Yazid.

He concluded by saying that this act of brutality and dishonor against the Prophet’s family is a sin so great that the curse of Allah remains upon the perpetrators in this world — and they will face an even more dreadful punishment on the Day of Judgement.
