Speaking at an intellectual session organized at Minhaj-ul-Quran International's affiliated Aghosh Orphan Care Home, Colonel (R) Mubashir Iqbal, the Director of Aghosh Complex, stated that knowledge is the only light that lifts a person from the darkness of ignorance, misguidance, and aimless life, and gives them a meaningful and dignified existence. He emphasized that knowledge is not merely a collection of bookish information, but an awareness that refines a person’s personality, character, behavior, and decision-making.
He explained that education is not just about obtaining a degree; true education is the one that imparts the awareness of social service, moral elevation, and the well-being of humanity. If the sole aim of knowledge is to secure a job, then that education is limited. However, if knowledge enlightens the personality, then that is true knowledge.
Colonel (R) Mubashir Iqbal highlighted that today’s youth, if they embrace knowledge along with insight, character, and ethics, can not only transform their own lives but also the destiny of the nation. He pointed out that Minhaj-ul-Quran's educational and training institutions, especially Aghosh Complex, serve as the best practical example of this mission, where both education and training are considered essential. Every child at Aghosh exemplifies this in their character, conduct, and academic performance, proving that they are the trustworthy, dignified, and virtuous citizens of the future.
He further noted that under the guidance and vision of Sheikh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, Aghosh institutions provide children with a complete, safe, educational, training, and spiritual environment, where they are nurtured with confidence, love, knowledge, and a sense of respect. He said that when nations move away from knowledge, their decline begins, but when knowledge becomes the purpose of life, that very nation earns the right to lead the world.
He also reminded the audience that the first message of Islam began with the word "Iqra", meaning "Read". The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, "Seeking knowledge is obligatory for every Muslim, male and female." He further stressed that if we make knowledge our top priority today, we can end ignorance, poverty, sectarianism, hatred, and moral decay.
Colonel (R) Mubashir Iqbal emphasized that the children residing in Aghosh Complex are not limited to the curriculum alone, but a comprehensive system is in place to enhance their mental, moral, spiritual, and leadership abilities. The children who graduate from here emerge as symbols of respect, character, and service in society. He urged parents and teachers not to only focus on academic performance but to also evaluate the children’s ethics, conversation, behavior, responsibility, and spirit of serving humanity when shaping their personalities.
