In today’s fast‑paced world, many of us have lost sight of why we were created. In this moving lecture, the speaker reminds us that our purpose is to seek Allah’s pleasure and closeness. He describes how worldly attractions—family, wealth, power and prestige—can distract us from our ultimate journey. Drawing on Imam al‑Shafi‘i’s timeless advice that “time is a sword—if you do not cut it, it will cut you” and the Qur’anic promise of sealed pure wine and bliss for the righteous, he shows how to use our time wisely, conquer our nafs (ego) and taste the sweetness of Allah’s love. The lecture contrasts spiritually dead hearts with hearts made alive through remembrance and good company, highlighting a hadith that “a person takes after the habits of his companion, so beware of the company you keep”. It concludes with a powerful story of a young prince who abandons indulgence after hearing the Qur’an, reminding us that no sin is too great for Allah’s mercy.
