Speech By: Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
Description:
This video explains how the authority and legal status of Hadith and the Prophetic Sunnah ﷺ are established in the light of the Holy Quran. In this address delivered at Al-Hidayah 2025 at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom, an incident from 1972 is mentioned to present a rational argument even the belief that the Holy Quran is a book revealed by Allah ultimately rests upon the statement of the Messenger ﷺ, that is, Hadith. It is further explained that when the first five verses of Surah Al Alaq were revealed in the Cave of Hira, the polytheists of Makkah had no independent means of knowing the source of this revelation except by relying on the statement of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that Gabriel (A.S) had brought this message. It was through accepting and trusting this testimony that non-believers became believers. The video then explains that in Surah Yunus, in response to the objections of the deniers, Allah presents the Prophet’s ﷺ forty years of flawless character, integrity, and truthfulness as a decisive proof of the existence of God and the truthfulness of the Quran. Finally, young people are advised not to rely on superficial preachers and speakers on social media, but instead to turn toward sound, authentic, and well-established scholarly sources for religious knowledge.
