On Friday, His Eminence Shaykh-ul-Islam delivered the Salat-ul-Jumma at Jamia Masjid Minhaj-ul-Quran, Nelson, where a packed congregation gathered from across the North West and Yorkshire.
Prior to the prayer, Shaykh-ul-Islam was delighted to see Allama Sajid ul Qadri in attendance and warmly invited him to briefly address the congregation. Allama Sajid offered a few heartfelt reflections, setting a spiritually uplifting tone for the sermon and prayer to follow.
After the Jumma prayer, His Eminence held a short but impactful sitting with the congregation and delivered a powerful Nasihah. He centred his talk on the theme of intention (niyyah) and the state of the heart. He reminded the audience that actions are judged by their underlying intent, and rewards vary accordingly. “It is not a small thing,” he said, “for the heart and intention to be pure.” He urged everyone to constantly self-reflect: "Ask your heart," he advised, especially when witnessing the success of others. "Are we genuinely happy for them, or does jealousy arise?”.
He emphasised that jealousy, pride, hatred, and anger must be eliminated regardless of others' actions or intentions. It is the believer’s duty to think well of others. Only with a purified heart can one attain true spiritual excellence. This, he noted, is not physically strenuous, but is made difficult by the nafs (lower self) and ego.
Shaykh-ul-Islam also explored the concept of jazba (emotional drive), particularly in relation to happiness. He explained that many seek happiness in fleeting sources, such as wealth, family, status, or leisure, but such sources eventually diminish, leading to frustration. Instead, true and lasting happiness lies in aligning one’s desires with the will of Allah. When our joy stems from what pleases Allah, it remains constant, stable, and fulfilling.
Following the talk, His Eminence met with numerous MQI members from Nelson, surrounding towns, and across Yorkshire. National and regional leadership of MQI UK were present, demonstrating unity and commitment to the mission.
To conclude the visit, Shaykh-ul-Islam spent a special moment with members of Minhaj Women League and Minhaj Sisters, offering a heartfelt du’a for their efforts and spiritual progress.
The day was marked by wisdom, unity, and an uplifting message of inner contentment; leaving all in attendance spiritually enriched and inspired to live with sincerity and purity of heart.
