Addresses by Irshad Iqbal, Rubina Moeen, Wardah Naz, Hina Fatima, and others
Secretary General of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, emphasized that the education and training of women are essential foundations for the development and stability of any society. Islam granted women the right to education over 1,400 years ago, and the Holy Qur’an equally encourages both men and women to seek knowledge. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ stated:
“Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim man and woman.”
He added that women’s education is not just a personal responsibility but a collective social obligation. An educated mother not only instills good character, etiquette, and religious consciousness in her children but also plays a vital role in nurturing a righteous and morally upright generation.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur expressed these views while addressing a “Training of Trainers” workshop organized by Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League in Peshawar. The event provided specialized training on organizational and movement-related matters.
The workshop was attended by Deputy Secretary General Engineer Muhammad Rafiq Najam, Irshad Iqbal (Member, Women League Coordination Council), and others.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur highlighted that Minhaj-ul-Quran is playing an effective role in promoting women's education and training through projects such as Al-Hidayah, Irfan-ul-Quran Institute, Minhaj College for Women, and Knowledge Centers that provide high-quality religious and contemporary education for women.
He said that Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri's vision is to transform every home into a center of knowledge and spiritual development. Women have played a prominent role in both past and present in this organized journey of Da'wah (Islamic propagation).
Engineer Muhammad Rafiq Najam, Deputy Secretary General (Organizations), stated that the wives of the Companions (Sahaba) were practical examples of knowledge, character, and patience in spreading the message of Islam. He urged today’s women to follow in their footsteps—learning and spreading religious knowledge actively. He further stressed that serving the religion is not the responsibility of men alone, as the female Companions spread the light of Islam in homes, gatherings, and during travel.
Irshad Iqbal stated that the Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League is committed to five core objectives: Education, Morality, Da'wah, Community Service, and Reform of Conditions. She emphasized that participants of this training session should continue similar activities at the union council, tehsil, and district levels with the same spirit.
The workshop also featured speeches by Hina Fatima, Wardah Naz, and Rubina Moeen, Provincial Head of Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa).
The event was attended by a large number of women, including Subhanullah Khan (Provincial President, Pakistan Awami Tehreek), Usman Hashim, and Women League Peshawar Zone leaders such as Syeda Zartaj Bukhari, Sabeeha Ishtiaq, and Asma Murtaza.
