Long-term Economic Policies are Essential for Stability: Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri

President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International and economist, Professor Dr. Hussain Mohiuddin Qadri, has stated that temporary measures alone will not suffice to overcome the current severe economic situation. He said what is urgently needed is a comprehensive, non-political, and nationally unified economic strategy. He emphasized that to protect and stabilize Pakistan's economy on a sustainable basis, an autonomous National Economic Council must be established immediately. This Council, he said, should include competent and honest individuals from all sectors, including technocrats, prominent economists, industry and trade, agriculture, banking, education, IT, and other fields.

While speaking to the leaders of the Awami Tajjir Ittehad on the topic "Solution to Pakistan's Economic Crisis," Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri explained that this proposed Council must not have any political affiliation or interests but should focus solely on improving, stabilizing, and developing the national economy. He pointed out that repeated changes in governments and political conflicts have severely damaged the economy, making it essential to have a permanent and empowered council capable of implementing long-term economic policies.

He added that the National Economic Council should prepare practical and actionable recommendations on crucial matters such as tax reforms, increasing exports, substituting imports, utilizing local resources, creating employment opportunities, controlling inflation, and promoting investment. He also mentioned that if Pakistan is to move towards economic independence, decisions must be made in the collective national interest, free from personal or political gains. The establishment of the National Economic Council could prove to be a critical and unavoidable step in this direction.

The meeting was also attended by Chairman of Awami Tajjir Ittehad, Haji Mohammad Ishaq, Shehzad Khan, Mohammad Rashid Chaudhry, Saqib Bhatti, Junaid Warisi, Shabbir Ahmed, and other business leaders.
