Addressing a spiritual gathering held at Jamy Shaykh-ul-Islam, Model Town, under the auspices of Minhaj-ul-Quran International on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat and the monthly Majlis Khatm-e-Salat ‘Ala-an-Nabi ﷺ, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri stated that on the night of the 15th of Sha‘ban, Allah Almighty descends to the lowest heaven in a manner befitting His Majesty and grants boundless forgiveness.

Citing authentic Ahadith, he said that all are forgiven except polytheists, those
who harbor hatred and enmity, tale-bearers, and those who commit murder unjustly.
Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri emphasized that there is scholarly consensus regarding the virtue
of Shab-e-Barat. He stated that recitation of the Qur’an, remembrance of Allah,
seeking forgiveness, and supplication are the established acts of this night. He
further explained that offering voluntary prayers without specifying a fixed number
of rak‘ahs, in accordance with the Prophetic tradition, is preferable.
Shaykh-ul-Islam added that when intention is purely for the pleasure of Allah, every lawful act of a believer becomes an act of worship. A person journeys from sin to reward, from weakness to strength, and from self-centeredness toward God — and this spiritual journey ultimately leads to divine pleasure and closeness to Allah.
In his welcome address, Secretary-General of Minhaj-ul-Quran, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, welcomed the scholars, spiritual leaders, and participants, stating that Shab-e-Barat is a night of repentance, forgiveness, and self-accountability.
Secretary-General of Jamia-tur-Rasheed Punjab, Mufti Syed Faheem-ul-Hasan Shah Thanvi, said that his relationship with Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri is heartfelt and long-standing. In his address, he highlighted the virtues of Shab-e-Barat and advised the audience not to spend the month of Ramadan in heedlessness.
Director of Training Affairs of Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran, Allama Ghulam Murtaza Alvi, stated that every address of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri serves as a source of spiritual training and intellectual reform. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of repentance, mercy, and concealment of others’ faults.
The gathering began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Qari Allah Bakhsh
Naqshbandi. Hamid Mustafa, Hafiz Muhammad Asim, and Qari Amjad Bilali presented
devotional poetry in praise of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.
