Contentment Lies in Being Pleased with Allah’s Distribution: Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri

Prof Dr Hussain Qadri Friday Sermon Jamay Shaykh ul Islam Lahore 2026

President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, has said that when a person attains contentment, they become truly wealthy, whereas greed and excessive desire leave a person spiritually restless and inwardly needy.

He expressed these views while addressing the Friday congregation at Jamy Shaykh-ul-Islam.

Dr. Hussain Qadri said that history bears witness to the fact that when a person becomes trapped in the web of greed and covetousness, their desires know no limits and they remain constantly afflicted with a sense of deficiency and dissatisfaction.

He said that the saints and the faithful have always taught people to keep their hearts free from greed and to give preference to the pleasure of Allah over worldly desires.

Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri noted that in today’s society, the trend of desires and competition is rapidly increasing. In some places there is greed for wealth, in others the pursuit of power and authority, and elsewhere the craving for fame and recognition—each leaving people restless and uneasy.

He said that Allah Almighty has blessed every individual with different bounties: some with wealth, some with knowledge, some with strength, and others with honor and status. If a person remains satisfied with this divine distribution, that is true contentment. However, if one becomes envious and restless by comparing themselves with others, that becomes greed and covetousness.

He added that a true believer lives with the conviction that the hardships of this world are temporary while the blessings of the Hereafter are eternal; therefore, they adopt the path of patience and gratitude. Contentment not only beautifies an individual’s life but also brings peace, harmony, and balance to society.

Dr. Qadri further stated that in the present age, social media has intensified the tendency of comparison. People tend to highlight the outward successes of their lives, which often creates feelings of deprivation and psychological pressure among others. Modern psychology describes this trend as “social comparison,” which can lead a person toward depression and mental distress.

Referring to a saying of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), he said that a person should not look at those who are wealthier than them, but rather at those who have fewer resources. This mindset cultivates gratitude in the heart and helps a person remain satisfied with their life.

Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri emphasized that contentment does not mean abandoning hard work or economic progress. Its true meaning is to establish balance in life. A person should strive to earn a livelihood, fulfill the rights of their family, and also dedicate time to serving the faith. When such balance is achieved, a person attains true peace and satisfaction.

Chairman of the Supreme Council of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, along with central leaders of the organization, also offered the Friday prayer at Jamy Shaykh-ul-Islam. After the prayer, a special supplication was made for the peace, stability, and prosperity of the country and the Muslim Ummah.
