Minority communities enjoy complete religious freedom in Pakistan

President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors at Minhaj University Lahore, Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, has said that Islam grants full protection and religious freedom to minorities. He said that Pakistan is a country where all minorities are free to practice their worship and religious traditions without hindrance.
He expressed these views while addressing the 25th annual interfaith Eid Milan program hosted by Nolakha Presbyterian Church, where he attended as the chief guest.
On this occasion, he was also presented with a commemorative shield in recognition of his selection as Pakistan’s first UNESCO Chair.
In his address, Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri emphasized that interfaith harmony and dialogue are among the most pressing needs of the present time, as they promote peace, stability, and mutual respect within society. He added that such events play a vital role in reducing distances between followers of different religions.
He further stated that, under the leadership of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, Minhaj-ul-Quran International has been promoting the message of peace, love, tolerance, and brotherhood in Pakistan and around the world for decades, helping to project a positive image of the country.
He stressed that establishing lasting peace in society requires people of different religions and cultures to respect one another’s beliefs and promote shared human values.
Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri also appreciated the services of Reverend Dr. Majid Abel for organizing interfaith events over the past 25 years, calling his efforts commendable.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Director of Interfaith Relations at Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Suhail Ahmad Raza, congratulated the administration of Nolakha Presbyterian Church of Pakistan on organizing the successful event and thanked them for presenting the shield to Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri.
The event was attended by a large number of political, social, and religious figures, including Dr. Bishop Azad Marshall, Father Asif Sardar, Bishop Munawar Mal, Liaquat Baloch, Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, Senator Kamran Michael, MPA Tariq Gill, Mufti Ashiq Hussain, Allama Shakeel-ur-Rehman, Father Naqqash, Reverend Emmanuel Khokhar, and Professor Dr. Khurram Shahzad, Registrar of Minhaj University Lahore, among others.
