- Iqbal’s thought is a source of awakening of the heart and purification of the soul
- The concept of selfhood is the foundation of the Ummah’s self-reliance: Founding-Leader of MQI

The leader of Minhaj-ul-Quran, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, in his message on the death anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, said that Allama Iqbal was a great thinker, a true lover of the Prophet, and an intellectual architect of the Muslim Ummah. Every word of his poetic thought serves as a guiding light for the promotion of knowledge and awareness and is worthy of being written in gold.
He said that the Poet of the East restored to the human soul its lost identity, and his poetry is infused with the essence of spirituality and divine knowledge. The thought of Iqbal is, in essence, a movement for the revival of divine love, through which the self is illuminated by the light of devotion. This enables a person not only to purify their inner self but also to develop awareness for the reform of society.
Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri stated that Allama Iqbal’s teachings are a source of awakening of the heart and purification of the soul, connecting human beings with their Creator. His message guides toward a clear spiritual path where love enlightens intellect, enabling individuals to recognize their true nature.
He further said that the concept of selfhood is, in fact, a gateway to divine understanding, teaching the Ummah self-reliance and intellectual independence. Allama Iqbal provided the Muslims of the subcontinent with a strong intellectual foundation and offered guidance not only at an ideological level but also in practical terms.
Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri added that in today’s era, for the welfare of society and the elimination of sectarianism and extremism, it is essential to act upon the teachings of Allama Iqbal. True commitment to his thought requires that it be understood and implemented in practical life.
