
A high-powered delegation comprising senior government representatives, parliamentarians, minority affairs leaders, and media officials from Sindh, Balochistan, and KPK visited Minhaj University Lahore and held a meeting with Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Deputy Chairman Board of Governors, Minhaj University Lahore. The visit focused on interfaith harmony, minority rights, peacebuilding, education, and social development initiatives.
The delegation included Mr. Anthony Naveed Sahutra, Deputy Speaker, Sindh Assembly; Dr. Sham Sunder, Minister for Minorities, Sindh; Mr. Rana Rajvir Singh Sodha, Minister for Human Rights, Sindh; Mr. Mahesh Kumar Hasija, MPA, Sindh; Mr. Krishan Sharma, Pardhan, Pakistan Hindu Mandir Parbandhak Committee; Mr. Jai Parkash Moorani, Editor, Daily Ibrat; Mr Asker Pervaz MPA, KPK; Mr. Sanjay Kumar, MPA, Balochistan; and Mr. Ravi Kumar, MPA, Balochistan.
The guests were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Khurram Shahzad, Registrar MUL; Dr. Javed Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Allied & Applied Health Sciences; Prof. Dr. Khawaja Alqama, Dean, Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences; Mr. Sohail Raza, Director Interfaith MQI; Maj (R) Sulman Jhangeer, Director Administration; Mr. Muhammad Shahzad Khan along with other senior faculty members.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri highlighted the contributions of Shaykh-ul-Islam Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri in promoting global peace, interfaith harmony, minority rights, and religious tolerance through dialogue, scholarship, and community engagement. He also shared the role of Minhaj-ul-Quran International and Minhaj University Lahore in advancing peaceful coexistence, social inclusion, educational empowerment, and the protection of minority rights through academic, social, and interfaith initiatives at both national and international levels.
Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri emphasized that sustainable peace can only be achieved through tolerance, mutual respect, inclusive education, and constructive engagement among communities. Discussions were also held on the role of educational institutions in countering extremism, strengthening social cohesion, and promoting constitutional and human values within society.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Secretary General MQI; Mr. Noor Ullah Siddique, Secretary Information MQI; Mr. Raja Zahid Mehmood, Vice President PAT; Dr. Jawad Iqbal, Director Academics; and other senior officials and faculty members of Minhaj University Lahore.
On this occasion, commemorative souvenirs were exchanged as a gesture of goodwill and mutual respect. Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri also presented copies of his authored book, “بین المذاہب رواداری: تاریخ، تصورات اور مکالماتی اِمکانات,” to the distinguished guests.
The delegation highly appreciated the peacebuilding, interfaith harmony, and minority welfare initiatives of Shaykh-ul-Islam Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi Ud DIn Qadri, Minhaj-ul-Quran International, and Minhaj University Lahore. The participants acknowledged that such comprehensive efforts for peace, tolerance, coexistence, and minority inclusion are playing a significant role in strengthening social harmony in Pakistan and described these initiatives as a valuable contribution toward national unity and interfaith understanding.
During the visit, the delegation also toured various academic departments, research centers, and administrative facilities of the university, including the School of Pharmacy, Ibn Sina Digital Robotic Library & Resource Center, Shaykh-ul-Islam Institute of Spiritual Studies, and other research and learning facilities. The guests appreciated the university’s academic environment, interfaith harmony initiatives, and focus on research and quality education.
