At the Minhaj University Lahore (MUL) Convocation 2025, Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors, delivered a profound and thought-provoking welcome address that deeply resonated with the graduating students, faculty, and distinguished guests.
In his stirring speech, Dr. Hussain Qadri reminded the audience that convocation is far more than a ceremonial gathering—it is a moment of reflection, purpose, and gratitude. He emphasized that education attains true meaning only when it shapes character, refines ethical consciousness, and enriches both the mind and the heart.
Drawing guidance from the Holy Qur’an, he underscored that real excellence is rooted in two foundational elements: faith and knowledge. He stated that it is understanding, not mere memorization, that elevates individuals, nations, and civilizations. Muslim civilization, he noted, rose to prominence through knowledge and wisdom—not wealth or social status.
Expressing concern over the modern education system’s fixation on grades rather than comprehension, he described it as a “crisis of purpose.” He urged educational institutions to revive ethics, character-building, compassion, and reflective learning—hallmarks of the Islamic scholarly tradition.
Highlighting the timeless teaching model of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Dr. Hussain Qadri observed that the greatest teacher in history transformed the world without buildings, projectors, or degrees, but through character, compassion, and purpose. He called upon contemporary education systems to return to this prophetic model of holistic development.
He further noted that universities around the world have expanded in size yet often lack unity of purpose. In contrast, he affirmed that every initiative at Minhaj University Lahore is purpose-driven—focused on nation building, peace, interfaith harmony, character development, global engagement, and service to humanity.
Message to Graduating Students
Dr. Hussain Qadri urged the graduates to embrace the following five guiding principles as they step into their professional and personal lives:
1: Be present and open-minded in every moment of life.
2: Live with sincerity and purpose—let honesty guide your actions.
3: Let ethics be your foundation—character outweighs credentials.
4: Become agents of positive change in your community and country.
5: Stay connected to your society—every act of kindness strengthens the nation.
He concluded his address with a heartfelt prayer:
“May Allah bless Pakistan, bless Minhaj University Lahore, and bless every graduating student of Convocation 2025. Go forth and build a nation that thinks deeply, feels deeply, and serves selflessly.”
