A grand and dignified farewell ceremony was organized at Minhaj University Lahore (COSIS) in honor of graduating students and scholars. A large number of parents, teachers, and students attended the event.
In his address, Professor Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, President of MQI and Deputy Chairman Board of Governors of MUL, said that this day is not only a moment of joy for the students but also a day of pride and happiness for parents and teachers. He paid tribute to the students’ hard work, the teachers’ years of dedicated training, and the sacrifices of parents, emphasizing that it is through these collective efforts that students become capable of serving the religion of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
He reminded the students that the seven years spent at the institution provide opportunities to earn various qualifications and degrees, but that the true journey of knowledge is only just beginning. Citing the saying of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, he noted that when Allah intends goodness for a person, He grants them understanding of the religion—and this understanding is a lifelong process.
Professor Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri urged the graduates to maintain sincerity of intention, to regard the pursuit of knowledge as an act of worship, and to present the true image of Islam in society through their conduct, attire, speech, and character as representatives of the faith. He clarified that knowledge should not remain confined to books alone, but must also be reflected in one’s actions and character.
He cited the life of Imam al-Ghazali (رحمہ اللہ) as an example, who, despite attaining great heights of knowledge, fame, and position, prioritized sincerity and purity of intention. Imam al-Ghazali chose seclusion and distanced himself from worldly fame in order to unite knowledge and practice with true spirituality.
The dedication and sincerity of the teachers, the sacrifices of parents, and the hard work of the students were highly appreciated. Professor Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri advised the students to always maintain a strong connection with the Holy Qur’an, to study it daily along with translation and commentary, to remain up to date in both religious and contemporary sciences, and to set an example in society through good character, dignity, and humility.
The ceremony concluded with a collective prayer that Allah Almighty grant all graduating students sincerity, steadfastness, and success; accept the services of their parents and teachers; make the Jamia a shining beacon of knowledge and practice; and grant all of us the ability to serve the religion of Islam. Ameen.
