Addressing the 9th World Islamic Economics & Finance Conference (WIEFC 2026), Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Professor of Economics and Deputy Chairman, Board of Governors, Minhaj University Lahore, highlighted that Islamic economics is fundamentally rooted in justice, dignity, and protection of the weakest segments of society.

He stressed that Islam does not treat welfare as optional generosity, but as a حق (right) of the poor and vulnerable. Citing Qur’anic principles and Prophetic teachings, he explained that societies which invest in labor welfare, fair wages, social protection, and inclusive governance build stronger economies, higher trust, and long-term stability.

Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri noted that neglecting workers and vulnerable groups fractures social cohesion and increases instability, regardless of technological or financial advancement. He emphasized that ethical governance, moral capital, and social justice are not abstract ideals but essential economic foundations.

He concluded that sustainable prosperity emerges when Islamic finance, public policy, and institutions align with justice-based principles, ensuring dignity, security, and opportunity for all members of society.
